Sovereign Sustainable Finance
Increasing cost of capital and limited access to the capital markets has historically restricted the prospect of less developed countries in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
BwB works with governments and national ministries to achieve debt sustainability and resilience to climate change. We help our clients to pursue innovative non-debt and debt transactions to meet climate change and sustainable development commitments and structure innovative transactions linked to climate and nature outcomes alongside other SDG’s. We are at the forefront of developing new performance-based instruments that deliver value for citizens and, through relief measures, break the undesirable cycle of debt and debt servicing, characteristic of conventional debt issuance.
We help sovereigns and governments to assess strategic options which consider debt sustainability with maximum impact by identifying and evaluating new and existing sources of finance. BwB supports our clients in the design, evaluation, and optimisation of these strategic funding options and, through deep relationships with donors and sponsors, provides critical credit enhancement support to facilitate transaction execution.
Our long-standing relationships with the debt capital markets (DCM) desks of many of the largest investment banks and with institutional investors help ensure speed, efficient pricing, and value for money. We also provide negotiation support with key stakeholders to facilitate procurement of transaction partners such as banks, legal and second party opinion providers.
