Shelmith’s experience cuts across development finance and advisory, impact investing, and commercial banking in Sub Saharan Africa. Over the last seven years, she has financed and advised clean energy and broader climate businesses & projects, structured, implemented and consulted on programs funded by various development finance institutions including KfW, SDC, USAID. She recently led the design of the Smart Outcomes Fund Component of CEI Africa, an outcomes-based grant program for Productive Use of Energy and provided leadership to the team in the implementation of the facility, to provide outcomes-based grants and technical assistance to Green Mini-grid developers. Shelmith has financed multiple electrification projects across Sub-Saharan Africa with various types of capital, identifying and assessing the project risk.

Prior to this, she was a business approver in Barclays Kenya, where she financed multiple projects across sectors.

 

Shelmith has an MBA from IE Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi. She is also a CPA Kenya, an Associate Banker, a trained Investment Manager and a trainer on accelerating growth enterprises in the circular economy. Shelmith sits on several boards and Investment Committees.
