The 2024 BwB Dinner Roundtable series continues.
As part of Climate Week NYC, BwB hosted two roundtable dinners with high-level stakeholders, focusing on two key topics:
1. “Providing Financing for Early-Stage Impact-Focused Companies in Emerging Markets,” hosted at Google, featuring exceptional professionals representing global foundations operating in emerging economies.
2. “Empowering Africa’s Future: Unlocking Sustainable Growth through SDG Investment,” with participation from government officials, members of the IMF and World Bank, as well as business leaders from across the African continent.
The sessions included discussions on the following topics:
- Investment in African Green Industrialisation: We analysed what investment means in the context of Africa’s green industrialisation, with a focus on long-term community investments, new partnership models, and achieving net-zero goals.
- The Role of Global Institutions and Governments in Supporting the African Economy: The discussion highlighted the importance of natural resource management, regulatory enhancements, private sector involvement, and improved credit risk assessment techniques for the growth and expansion of African businesses.
- The Role of Foundations and Philanthropies: We emphasised the need for philanthropies to accelerate their role in de-risking nature and biodiversity projects, testing bankability, and creating replicable models for the years to come.
Rupesh Madlani, BwB’s CEO, remarked: “I am grateful to our partners and friends for contributing to such fruitful discussions on how we unlock and accelerate financing for sustainable development in underserved markets. We will carry forward these discussions for our investor round table dinner in Delhi on Monday.”
These events are part of BwB’s ongoing roundtable series, which has also hosted events in Davos, Washington DC, Nairobi, and London.
