80 City Leaders Discuss District Heating and Cooling Financing

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲? More than 80 city leaders, financiers, and technical experts joined our NetZeroCitiesEU Climate City Capital Hub webinar on District Heating and Cooling (DHC) financing in December. Through the discussion, one message came through loud and clear: 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗛𝗖 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸. The session focused on what turns promising concepts into investable DHC and geothermal projects:  ▸ Robust evidence of heat demand  ▸ Clear and credible delivery models  ▸ Smart risk allocation between public and private actors  ▸ Evidence of a realistic pathway from strategy to implementation This work sits at the heart of the Capital Hub. Led by BwB and its consortium partners within the NetZeroCitiesEU project, the Hub supports Mission Cities across Europe to structure clean heat projects that are designed to mobilise investment at scale.
