BwB Co-Head of Retrofit and Built Environment, Rufus Grantham, is just back from Berlin after participating in a 3-day ULI Europe workshop on Net Zero and how we can mobilize the European real estate industry to decarbonize.
“Urban decarbonization isn't just a technical/environmental issue but has a huge potential impact on the lives of citizens. Driving collaboration across a range of stakeholders will be critical to shifting the conversation from one of just asset transition to one about place-making and regeneration of our neighborhoods.”, commented Rufus.
Joining a panel including Vivienne King, Anna Moore, Juergen Fenk, and Carlo Castelli, we interviewed over 25 stakeholder organizations in the Berlin real estate sector covering public and private owners, investors, prop-tech, and more, to understand the barriers in the city and more broadly. This work will now inform several ongoing workstreams to develop solutions to these issues.
Thanks to the Urban Land Institute and in particular to Lisette Van Doorn, Sabine Georgi, Simone Strobel & Joey Udrea for organizing such a fantastic initiative, and to Greenberg Traurig for hosting.
