Core themes were harnessing Zambia’s market potential and further strengthening the standards and structures needed to bring investable green deals to market. From deep dives into green bond structuring to discussions on market readiness and investor engagement, it was inspiring to see strong momentum from policymakers, regulators, and financial actors alike. “Zambia has made huge strides to try to activate its green bond market and there is tremendous potential for corporate issuers to use these instruments to support the country’s broader green, environmental, and national development objectives,” said BwB Managing Director and Global Head of Nature & Biodiversity and Gender Finance Heather Matson. “Across both days there was a lively discussion among workshop participants, allowing us to really dig into some of the key questions across the market”, said BwB Associate Prerna Sukhija. A huge thank you to our hosts at UNDP Zambia, BIOFIN - Biodiversity Finance Initiative Zambia, and the The Securities and Exchange Commission, Zambia, as well as to all the speakers and participants for the wonderful spirit of collaboration and the depth of expertise shared throughout the workshop. How do you see green bonds and nature-positive finance evolving in your region or sector? Let us know in the comments.
