Exploring Innovative Financing for Africa Green Industrialisation: Insights from BwB's Investor Dinner in Nairobi

Earlier this year, BwB hosted a roundtable investor dinner in Nairobi, Kenya.

With the launch of the Africa Green Industrialisation Initiative at the end of 2023, the discussion centred on how innovative financing structures could help overcome challenges and maximise opportunities to deliver on the objectives and vision presented by the Initiative. Attendees exchanged information and ideas on a broad range of issues, including:

  • Financial instruments that can drive better outcomes for green jobs and attract more investors over the long term.

  • Effective and scalable strategies to combine both public and private capital in risk markets.

  • Establishing what ‘investment’ in Africa green industrialisation means – e.g., long-term investment in communities, new models for partnerships, and a new set of outcomes that build on and out from the goal of reaching net zero.

“The investor dinner was an excellent opportunity to meet with our local investor partners and identify how the business community, local governments, and policy makers can prepare for and benefit from the Africa Green Industrialisation Initiative. We look forward to advancing with the action points that were identified during our discussion,” commented Chris Smith, BwB Managing Director.

The event was part of BwB’s investor roundtable series that launched in Davos in January, with other sessions held in Washington DC and London during the first half of the year.

BwB will host its next investor dinner in September. To find out more, reach out to your BwB contact.
