Description
Bhutan is embarking on an ambitious project with the development of Gelephu, the world’s first mindfulness city. Located strategically on the Indo-Bhutan border, the city aims to integrate sustainability and mindfulness into urban planning through nature-based solutions, creating a pioneering model for urban development. Achieving this vision requires innovative financial mechanisms, strategic partnerships, and robust collaboration. The key question is: How can investors and the government work together to realize this vision, transforming Gelephu into an urban sanctuary that harmoniously blends mindfulness and sustainability to its core? This roundtable will bring together a focused group of investors with representatives from the Government of Bhutan to kickstart this critical collaboration.
Objectives
- Identify the unique challenges and opportunities in integrating mindfulness and sustainability into Gelephu’s urban planning. Explore how investors, government, and policymakers can work together to address these challenges and leverage opportunities for mutual benefit.
- Explore innovative financing mechanisms to support Gelephu’s development, such as green bonds, blended credit structures that include carbon, nature, and social elements, multi-currency trading platforms for sustainable securities.
- Analyse how investments in Gelephu can provide significant social benefits, such as job creation and community development, alongside maintaining strong environmental stewardship and attractive financial returns.
