BwB Associate and City Finance Specialist for Spain and Portugal, Blanca Rincon de Arellano, recently joined industry representatives from Banco Sabadell, CaixaBank,
Asociación Española de Banca and Nfq Advisory[, Solutions, Outsourcing for an expert panel discussion on private finance opportunities for cities as part of citiES2030’s ‘Mission Possible: Building the Cities We Want’.
Hosted by Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo in Santander, this three-day summer course was designed to equip participants with knowledge and tools to advance the objectives of the EU Cities Mission.
Blanca presented the Climate City Capital Hub, a first-of-its-kind neutral capital centre that pairs robust data analytics with technical and financial expertise to help European cities secure financing for climate-related projects.
“With an estimated €650 billion needed by Mission Cities to bridge the funding gap for their net-zero initiatives, private sector capital will need to play a major role,” commented Blanca. “It is exciting to see the firm commitment of Spanish cities to achieving a net-zero future reflected in the ambitious projects they are developing to deliver real impact for their communities.”
