Finance was prominent feature of many insightful discussions at the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum, hosted by UN-Habitat in Cairo last week.
Henrik Rasmussen , BwB Executive Director, took the stage for two engaging panel sessions in which he spoke about BwB’s work to build local capacity in cities across Europe as part of the NetZeroCities mission, with the aim of accelerating the development of investable climate projects and unlocking different sources of financing. City Finance Specialists, who are an integral part of the innovative Climate City Capital Hub, play a key role in this work by advising on financing options for maturing projects, facilitating investor engagement, and assisting with transaction execution.
“Finding solutions for scaling up financing is paramount to cities’ success in realising their investment plans for climate neutrality. The discussions at WUF12 were rich in ideas for accelerating the deployment of capital and addressing the challenges that have given rise to a large financing gap for cities,” commented Henrik.
BwB extends its gratitude to UN-Habitat, Vinnova, Viable Cities, Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA) and Penn Institute for Urban Research (Penn IUR) for the panel invitations and fruitful discussions.
