What is the Africa Capital Hub?

Africa’s development challenge is increasingly a financing challenge: designing innovative sustainable capital solutions that can deliver impact that is aligned with national priorities.

As Lilian Macharia, Director of the Africa Capital Hub (ACH), puts it:

“Capital is the bridge between policy ambition and implementation. When financing is well structured, sustainability ambitions can move beyond plans and towards delivery.”

Launched in 2024 by BwB, ACH exists to do exactly this. We work alongside governments, funders, and investors to translate policy priorities into credible, bankable financing solutions – with clear pathways to implementation.

Our role

ACH operates midstream, between government demand and capital supply. It provides the structuring, coordination, and transaction design needed to catalyse capital flows that drive transformative environmental and social projects.

Our vision

An Africa where adequate, affordable, and sustainable capital facilitates inclusive growth and accelerates progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Our mission

To mobilise and structure diverse sources of capital by partnering with governments, philanthropies, and investors – helping to strengthen financing strategies that unlock high-impact, SDG-aligned projects.
