What made you apply to BwB?

Powered by former investment bankers, BwB is uniquely positioned to facilitate communication between the public and private sector, making it the perfect fit for someone like me who wants to learn how to use their knowledge of financial markets and structuring expertise to tie profits with purpose.

What was your experience through the BwB recruitment process?

The amount and quality of time a firm spends on a person during an interview is reflective of the investment the firm is going to make in them – at BwB, I had members across all designations talk through the philosophy and vision. I was extremely impressed by the drive, motivation, and passion each interviewer had for the subjects, and the ease with which they lay out structured approaches for complicated questions around sustainable development. While I was tested on not only my technical skills, but also the ability to navigate tricky situations, the entire process was a massive learning curve in gauging my own abilities.

How would you describe your first month at the firm?

The prospect of creating strategies and conducting extensive research across the spectrum – from sovereign debt to private financing in nature and biodiversity, was quite daunting initially, but the unparalleled mentorship programme and the analytical team support helped massively in maintaining and galvanizing pace and learning.

What do you love about working at BwB?

The close mentorship programme and the ability to define myself at the firm are two things that I absolutely love about working at BwB!

As an analyst, I co-lead and design strategies for projects with senior members who have decades worth of experience in the industry, which when combined with the exposure to clients and partners on a daily basis, has helped me grow exponentially, both professionally and personally. Along with this, because of the philosophy of the firm, all analysts are encouraged and mentored to hone their skills in their area of interest, and eventually lead projects in the associated space – ultimately growing in their own direction, at their own pace.

Since we operate in both environmental and social domains, I see this opportunity as a way to materially contribute to causes I’m passionate about, with the support of a fantastic team!

What advice would you offer to someone considering a career at BwB?

If you’re looking to work on projects that positively impact society and environment, travel across the world, interact with people globally, and learn things you didn’t know you don’t know from seasoned professionals, BwB is the place to be

What made you apply to BwB?

What persuaded me to apply to BwB was the unique group of features that characterises this company: a “not-for-profit” that wants to have a leading role in the green financial market, powered by former investment bankers. This is an incredible combination of purpose, impact, and expertise that I wanted to be part of.

What was your experience through the BwB recruitment process?

The recruitment process was an important learning experience. During the three rounds of interview, the candidate is tested under all points of view: from financial structuring to leadership, from modelling to communication, from economics to passion and dedication. You can feel how people in the company are dedicated to their role since the first conversation, making the all process empowering and inspiring. It really makes you want to be part of the team.

How would you describe your first month at the firm?

Overwhelming! Since the first day, analysts are put on the front row of projects, dealing with content, strategy, and clients relationship. It takes some time to understand how to navigate this level of commitment, but the team is there to support and teach you how to handle complex situations.

What do you love about working at BwB?

Two elements: the variety of projects and the team.

BwB has the rare characteristic to empower its analytical team to a level that I have never seen before in the job market. The internal company’s “flat structure” allows analysts to make decisions, co-lead projects with Managing Directors, and work on a vast variety of subjects (from blue economy to forestation, from sovereign debt to green cities etc.), being subject to a level of exposition with clients and partners that is unimaginable in the investment banking sector. This number of responsibilities allows analysts to grow their professional profile way faster in comparison to many other companies. This is possible because the whole team works together with a common purpose: assist high impact projects that benefit the environment and social good. In BwB, the team comes first to every individualism. Everybody is ready to support each other, sharing knowledge, expertise, and advices with colleagues. We all row in the same direction, and this makes everybody feeling as part of a great group.

What advice would you offer to someone considering a career at BwB?

Get ready to be a team player, travel around the world, and read a lot of reports! If you choose BwB, you will never regret it! Come with us to change the world!

What made you apply to BwB?

I decided to apply to BwB because I was compelled by its mission statement and credentials. Applying the concepts and strategies of finance to the world of sustainable development struck me as a highly practical and potent means of pushing for real change in the world we live in. In addition, it was clear that the achievements and depth of experience that the team possessed were unparalleled in the space, making the position a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional learning and growth.

What was your experience through the BwB recruitment process?

The recruitment process was rigorous but enriching. As I joined as an intern, there was a three-stage process that began with an informal conversation, followed by a case study and panel interview, and then a final interview. Overall, the format was excellent; no cover letters, no video interviews, and no annoying situational questions, but rather a series of authentic conversations where I got to know the organisation and the interviewers got to know me. Through the process, I became particularly impressed by the genuine enthusiasm which people had for the organization and the work being done.

How would you describe your first month at the firm?

BwB prides itself on being a flat organization. Despite starting as an intern (and coming from a non-financial background!) I was given responsibility from day 1. This meant being involved in all aspects of our work, including external meetings, presenting to clients, independent research, and writing. Whilst this can of course be overwhelming, the team was all very welcoming and supportive, and the exposure that I was given to a number of different sectors was very exciting.

What do you love about working at BwB?

Working with intelligent, knowledgeable, and motivated colleagues on such a rich variety of tasks and projects means that I am constantly learning, and constantly pushing myself to improve. BwB does an excellent job of supporting this development, allowing me to simultaneously utilize my strengths and work on areas which I am less familiar with. BwB’s flat structure is also a massive positive, as it encourages each member of the team, regardless of seniority, to have a say in how we do the work we do, and to influence the future of the firm.

What advice would you offer to someone considering a career at BwB?

The work is meaningful; there are many opportunities for professional development; the team are supportive; management will invest time in you; the organization is young and rapidly growing; there are opportunities to travel. Why not?!

What made you apply to BwB?

After a long career working in the City of London, I was looking for a new opportunity where I could have a meaningful impact on the world, specifically on environment and social issues, given my early career working in international development. BwB was the perfect combination of a return to my first career, so to speak, combined with an opportunity to leverage my skills and expertise from my career in financial services.

What was your experience through the BwB recruitment process?

I really enjoyed the volunteer component of the process – it gave me a chance to sink my teeth into some work and get to know the people and culture before we all committed to each other! The transition from a large corporation to a non-profit is a big one and by volunteering for a couple of months before joining full time I got a real sense of the differences and if it was the right fit for me.

How would you describe your first month at the firm?

Busy and extraordinarily welcoming. I was helping the team to wrap up a thematic bond feasibility study, so the learning curve was steep (my background is mainly in equities) whilst developing and launching my sector strategy for Gender, Diversity, and Inclusive Finance, so there were lots to do. I was lucky to join the same month we were having a firm-wide onsite in London, so I got to meet almost everyone in person, which was great considering the geographic reach of the team.

What do you love about working at BwB?

The mission, absolutely, and the people – the work we do in support of our mission is incredibly interesting and rewarding as it feels like we’re having an impact and being part of the solution if you know what I mean. The team is also fantastic and endlessly creative about what else we could be doing as a firm.

What advice would you offer to someone considering a career at BwB?
The transition from a large, stable investment banking organization and working on a trading floor to a fast-growing, nimble organization is significant, however what they both have in common is the pace of change, a high degree of innovation and a real opportunity for entrepreneurship, however being aware of the differences and whether that is the right fit for you is important. I’d also advise that you come prepared to roll up your sleeves and muck in – we have a very flat structure, and everyone does a little bit of everything.
